New CVT supplier

Well it is true Hoffco/Comet is toast I have found a new manufacturer almost in my backyard. They have clutches for anything that moves including small cars as they are the main supplier for Bombadier. The next bonus is the cost is almost half of the Comet set up. I emailed and spoke with David at the factory he said the phone has come off the wall in the last week. Our clutches will be in a November run as they are down on staff and need to spool back up to speed and call back workers. here is their web site http://www.CVTech-ibc.com There is not alot of tech info but they are very fast to respond and helped set us up .

that is fantastic news. i had been unhappy with the tunability of my comet with available comet parts and took it to my almost local Hi-performance sled shop. once his jaw was picked up off the floor he got right to it and found me lighter springs and heavier rollers than were available from comet. and about half the price of the comet stuff. he thought i might have been better off if i had just come to him in the first place. he was pretty sure a sled cvt would have been a good choice. i told him on the next bike maybe.

I've seen CVtech mantioned on the FSAE race car forums. There are a few other's mentioned but no clue who is the best customer service or prices. Gaged engineering perhaps is another to check out. ??? The SCCA F500 race cars use CVT's also, but not really anywhere close to diesel RPM's. AEN come to mind on those.

Y'all up north at least have folks who work on sleds to help you. I went looking for snowmobile gloves tonight, thinking they would work well for winter motorcycle gloves. I sort of got the deer in headlight look from the ski shop folks around here.

When you say toast , you mean the company is out of buisness ? or the clutch you have is toast ?

The company is bankrupt and not shipping anything. Who knows if they will rise from the ashes? CVTech has clutches and are alive and well and cost less. We will have our bikes running in the spring and will be testing their clutches. And yes these are the guys that make many of the CVT sets used in the SAE challages.
We are using the same CVT set used for the Mini Baja it is good to 25hp and are running on 25hp diesel engines in some application according to the company rep. They have a low ratio of 3:1 and a high of .43:1

Their CVT expert is now on vacation in Cuba, but will return within weeks. And is said to be THE MAN when it comes matter of special CVT systems.

Maybe my PunsunDnepr will benefit something.
