Ruggerini on eBay, with clutch and gearbox, it looks old and scruffy so it will probably go cheap.

Yes I know, I would have bought it myself but it was too far away.
I have just come back from getting an RD211 from "up north". I wouldn't want to do that journy again in a hurry. My wife and kids came with me, picked up the engine, then went to look for a Travel lodge type hotel in North Wales, and there wasn't one. We finaly got a hotel room in Taunton at 3.30am. Ended up doing 700 miles (14 hours) in one day.

What could that little engine and gearbox have come out of? Doesn't quite look like a small tractor or mower setup. Really cute deal, I would've wanted it if it was on this side of the pond, and maybe would've driven 700 miles to get it! (but I think that I would have spared my wife the trip, she would have spend the whole way home telling me that I am a fool for buying more junk!)

Sounds more like you would be sparing yourself

Duh, I see now that it was listed under Boat engines! But I've never seen a Diesel set up like that in a small sailboat, usually they use a small Paragon-type gearbox, not something that looks like it belongs in a 1954 Peugeot!
It works out well being almost deaf in the right ear (driving outside the Commonwealth) with the missus' sitting in the passenger seat when the complaining starts- I just nod and agree occasionally while generally ignoring the bantering

So this is why sidecars are so popular in some crowds...
