After cleaning and checking over the bike before a run tomorrow, am puzzelled by the engine and what it really is....the engine appears to have no markings other than L100 and 0.435L by the oil filler cap....I can't see any other manufacturer markings, only label is on the air cleaner cover....nothing that shows it to be a Yanmar and there again nothing to say it isn't!
In the papers I got with the bike there is a receipt for an engine that mentions product code L100N5CJ1F1AA - Low Noise 10HP 1" Keeway and in 2007 the price excluding VAT was £1474.20.....I can only assume the engine and the receipt are 'matched' - there being no seriel number on the engine or the receipt!
What's puzzelling is the 0.435L and the L100 markings. The bike's docs state 406cc...but the UK website for yanmar seems to have mixed info on pages where some say the capacity is 406cc and some 435cc....the website also shows L100N5CJ1F1AA as a L100 Low Noise Air cooled 10hp 1" Keyway Shaft, Diesel....so a little confused. If anyone out there can solve the mystery of how to identify or clarify.
Anyway bike is going well - now I am adjusting to the gear change technique... {Thank you Dave ]
Anyway here she is...
{excuse the mess in the garage - not the DL650 the other side }
Regards
Mark

go to Yanmars website and look into where they placed all the various numbers etc. on the engines.mhsilverw wrote:.. am puzzelled by the engine and what it really is....the engine appears to have no markings other than L100 and 0.435L by the oil filler cap....I can't see any other manufacturer markings, ..
I THINK.... not sure... but engines like this come in different configurations. Same engine... just different IP's or tweaks to the IP or??? . Some have an accelerator some are designed for constant RPM. Horse power rating changes accordingly. All this is done to match the market it was originally being produced for. Thus, There must be another number to identify which type you have.

Seeing the fact that you say the 0.435L is by the oil filler, is that how much oil it requires?
Seen that on a lot of engines (stationaries, bikes, cars, etc)
Looks nice though...
Am slightly jealous

Hey Mark,
Get me some detailed pictures of the engine; block, throttle bracketry, injector, pump, etc. I should be able to then tell you if it's a Yanmar or a clone.

I'd say it's a genuine Yanmar engine
