Hello from NC U.S.A.
My name screen name it phoenix827, but I go by Ben. My Father and I completed a bike last year. I've been running on used cooking oil. The engine seems to really run well on it. Seen very interesting, cool bikes on the site and realize there are very few here that understand my bike. Wanted to be able to communicate with more like minded people. My bike was a Honda CM400, now it has a sterling 10HP diesel and variable belt drive. We made the transmission from a piece of 4 inch by 4 inch steel box. We bored holes through, bolted in bearing assemblies then cut our own shafts. I average about 110 miles to a gallon.

Howdy neighbor, welcome aboard. At least NC touches TN. I like your low cost durable panniers.
If you have pictures of the transmission setup, post them up. Folks here are always looking at different ways to skin that cat.

Firstly welcome
Secondly, from what I understand you have a 10hp diesel, with a CVT which then connects to a homemade halfshaft/jackshaft, which then drives the rear wheel using a chain and sprocket...
About right?
Any more pictures of your bike would be nice
some close ups are always good
Enjoy your stay...

I'll have to pull the covers soon to do some cleaing. I'll get some good close pics then and post 'em. Been riding a lot. 42 and a full time college student, Mutt (that's what we call the bike) is cheap transit. All my family and friends save their old oil for me. Just finished a simple pump filter station run with a battery drill, went through gallon and half in about a minute with no mess. I'll get some pics of that too.

Here's a couple more pics.
Re: Hello from NC U.S.A.
looks good
Agricultural is the word I am looking for...
One thing though, I would have thought a better seat would be a good idea :S
And the exhaust looks good
But like quite a few I have seen, the exhaust ends around your foot :S
I would think it would be better if the end was behind you, like a standard bike...
Still a good looking bike though (apart from the purple :S dont like purple )
And I like your method of protecting the rider from the belts

Re: Hello from NC U.S.A.
a few things have been changed since these photos, the bike has forward floor boards and there is a padded seat mounted on the frame plate. We cut the exhaust that short to be able to access the sidestand. We are planning a major rework after riding season. Looking for more miles from a gallon. We have a five speed to go in and I'm building a custom front end. I want to rake it and stretch it a bit. Won't fix the purple, that's my favorite, but you won't find any light feminine purple on it.IgorVigor wrote:looks good

I see, would a 90 degree bend on the end of it, to kick the smoke either down onto the road or sideways, either way it will be away from your leg
would like to see some pics when you have modded it a bit more
