Finally got a bike sorted....

Post by mhsilverw »

Hi,

I finally got sorted with a diesel, one of Trevor Williams bike(s) - fitted with a Yanmar I believe L100 and not a clone.

It's great fun....well apart from the gear change - could be the clutch. It has a 5-plate clutch I am told and a recent cable, so maybe its not adjusted right.

Guess this is like many others out there, but thought I would try and post some pics. Its based on a 2005 Enfield (a 500 I think). Its funny after reading tests on Robins yrs ago I thought it would be really slowwww - acceleration and speed. Seems to be great 40mph-55mph, not a rocket ship but as fast as some older brits and accelerates faster than I thought...and 'plonks' great when bimbling thru some villages.

Been on a 50mile trip today thru the lanes/'B' and smaller 'A' roads and seemed to go very nicely, in a relaxing (well apart from the gear change) sort of way.

Regards

Mark

Very nice looking retro bike with a nice classic nonclone engine.

Have fun.

That is really neat, well done.

The springer seat has been the best investment for my bike, saved my back many a time :) also looks the part.

Hey Mark
Nice machine and with a genuine Yanmar even better.
I've got the same thoughts on the performance of these Diesel powered Enfields. For what they are they ride really well.
