hi neil
one question i have.
dont you have trouble ,because of install the engine not in that position like in the car. i will say you made it very straight. i heared of bubbles in zylinderhead , which destroy the motor of overheating?

than you know about something about topspeed , acceleration and fuel consume?

and last look my movie
http://www.youtube.com/user/motoheiko#p ... SItcAlwyJo

the pin of the right fork is which connect to the switchingroll is losely.
i had that problem now on 3 gearboxes.
before you make an big journey look at that sh*t.
its very simply to repair.
you open the top cover and the side cover from clutch. take out to trhe side the axle from the forks and take out that fork.
than take an drill with 6,5mm cut a pice longer ca.5mm than orginal pin on the ,end and press it in. now put all together.
i hope it help you.
because if you lose it at drivining you are fucked  , because gears goes broken or 2 gears goes in and block it you will make perhaps an accident.
you will feel the problem if you have problems while switching gears or explecite the fourth gear makes problems.
i hope you understand all.
regards heiko

Hey,

I am not sure of the cooling problem. I assembled the engine carefully but I have no way to look inside there to see if there is air trapped.

The bike does around 100mph (160kph) on the speedo. Acceleration I don't know but consumption varies at around 3l/100km (97mpg imperial) being from normal riding at speed limits with a mix of 40, 50 and 60mph. I filled the tank in England on the way back from the rally with approx 50% of the fuel being used at motorway (ahem) speeds it returned 91mpg. I think with some tweaking more may be possible so I am looking at my own control system now.

I understand what you mean by the gearbox problem, but my gearbox did not have that issue. The pin is installed solidly in my shifter fork although I only got 500 miles from the gearbox! However, I think that it cannot come free from the fork even if it rotates because the hole is not through the fork and at the other side it is held in place by the shifter drum. It may affect the shifting of the box (which is fun already!) but I don't think it could cause complete gearbox failure unless I misunderstand?

You mention a big journey, perhaps I should post another thread for that...

How do you find the belt drive clutch is performing? I have observed now one of the clutch dogs (the pins in the clutch basket) breaking and I imagine this is likely to happen sometimes due to the design. Perhaps they should be replaced with a different material?
