Rat bike

Post by Stuart »

Added a new Rat bike sent me by Kevin. He saw this in the Isle of White. I thougt at first it looked like Haydn's but I'm sure it's not, unless it has a different front end :?: :?

Yea, it's Haydens bike. He had it at this years Rat & Survival show and I think he won a prise. He says he doesn't do computers and the Big Knock always clashes with his fave bike rally so you don't see much of him about.

I had a long chat to him at the R&S about car engined bikes and just about got enough information and enthusiasm to embark on my second project :)

A few details of the bike. Its a 1.6 ford and the whole build cost him about £300 and built in the days before the SVA. If no one else noticed it had a suicide car like gear lever on the right made from a large spanner and a left hand throttle. Clutch is disengaged with a foot lever on the left. The Diff has been locked up and there is a heavy modified SX1100 bevel to the rear wheel. There is also no air filter, just the flap of sheet steel over the inlet manifold!! I'm also sure he said it did 80ish mpg.

Can you guess why it's named "Handful"

Some extra piccies of the beastie!
