Pug/Citroen TD engined bikes

Post by fran9r »

I've seem some pics of a French bike with this engine in...anyone have build details? I believe the builder has since been killed, sadly.

If a lightweight diesel build is not feesable, I want reasonable pole so I can smoke everybody out!

If your thinking of the same bike as I am, I believe your are correct that he was killed.

If my memory serves me correctly, it used a Citroen Xantia 1.9TD with a completely custom built frame, to keep the size down.

Apart from that, I don't know much about it (apart from it looked good in silver with an orange seat :P)

Anyway, with a diesel, you dont need any poke to smoke people out :S
Just open the diesel pump up (and perhaps fit a diesel injector into the exhaust? Challenger Tank smoke anyone :P)

You can get alot of power out of a Pug 1.9TD (as fitted to the 306)
Better if its got the Bosch pump though.

What you need to do, is open the pump up, fit a freeflowing pipe, turn the boost up, high flow intake, and take the bhp from stock of 92 to around 130bhp.
More is possible if you spend out for bigger intercooler, mod the pump, etc :P

Then again, from the video, Nanko's bike (1.5 N/A Pug Diesel, 60hp) doesnt hang around...
His bike if I remember correctly, is 309kg.

That works out at a power to weight ratio of 194bhp per ton...
Which isn't sports bike fast, but its not to be underestimated :P

Besides, if he needs to tow a small trailer :D

Unfortunatly you are right. Lajos, the builder, died in a car accident.

I'm sure you could be happy with a TUD5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_7f-DiP6ng
