Questions: Alternators NON EXTERNAL (Stator)
Topic recently came up on NON external alternators- as in ones that are designed like those that sit under an engine cover somewhere. They work like those used in Motorcycles. I just checked with Kubota..... whom makes my engine (but the shippers HAVE LOST IT .. but that is another topic) and they do have that option... but its only 10amp
soooo.. general question for all to look into .....
. Can an OEM stator/dynamo like this be rewound for higher amp outputs?
....rewinding china diesel Stator.
. Can we adapt one from a motorcycle to our diesel engines?
. What options are out there for existing diesels we use know. Apparently
....Lombardini: 20 & 30amp?
....Others
. Where do they mount?
....Lombardini- under/inside?? Flywheel
....Others??
(PS- will update these list as others chime in )

The ruggerini has an inboard alternator not sure of the ampage but I would thing fairly large. The interesting thing its made by Ducati. Dont know if its any relation to the bikes.

do you know what it is inboard of? Since Rugernni was much a copy of Lombardinni (or other way around) one might assume it too is under the flywheel but it's best not to assumesbrumby wrote:The ruggerini has an inboard alternator not sure of the ampage but I would thing fairly large. Yes its under the flywheel. Most of these big engines used for generators, welding generators, temporary road lights, have to have some form of power as they are soley electric start. I may be wrong but I dont think Lombardini made a twin until they joined with Ruggerini then the same engines were made but just different colours.

Re: Questions: Alternators NON EXTERNAL (Stator)
and how does 280 watt break down to amps at 12v?

Re: Questions: Alternators NON EXTERNAL (Stator)
watts = volts X amps, 280w divided by 12 = 23.3 amps.

Divide watts by volts to get amps.
