Re: OCC Diesel Chopper

Post by Stuart »

Yeah, I wondered what that dog park stuff was. I got a few Tweets (along with a few thousand other ppl) from Paul Jnr about it. Also said something about his Dad not coming over at xmas?
Snr's anger and arguments gave the show an edge (on top of the bike building) when we first saw it on our screens. You could even say it was a stroke of genius to raise the show above what it was expected to be by adding an extra level of conflict. But man, it's seems to have gone all down the soap opera route and forgotten it's roots now. Everything goes in cycles and they should have enough sense to either start over consentrating on the bikes again or pull the show altogether.

I think we forget it's a TV show about making bikes, not a company that makes bikes - which is something OCC ran out of steam on some time before Jnr and Snr split. Also they make show bikes, not practical bikes which kind of puts them at odds with the diesel ethic.
Televisually, the bike-build is now merely an extension of the focus, not the focus in and of itself. Bit like OCC as a company really. The brand is all about the t-shirts and the Books, the personal appearances and the tie-ins with overseas high-end sellers, not the practical demonstration of engineering clarity and design excitement. Hardtails are just a cop-out. High headstock and raked-out front ends merely continuation of the tired old cliche.

Not that we couldn't see it all coming. All the drama, yelling and swearing got old fast. As time went on more drama and less bikes. I think that if you stripped off all the added fluff on the "theme bikes" they'd all look exactly the same (I think about 6 people already said that here!) I can see a big auction sale coming up, look for lots of unfinished goods to be on fleabay soon. I am sure that nice new building has already been appraised and the bank has commissioned an auctioneer for the sale. Their "OCC Chopper" helicopter has been repo'd it seems. I'm sure that after people are only having the reruns to look at the T shirt, ballcap, and book sales will tank. Oh well.

Nothing like ego and money to destroy a family, that's what I see as sad in all of this.

Well I guess it wouldn't be the first business to expand into a market that wasn't really there. Ultimately the banks must be responsible for creating that situation. Harley and many other companies are having to look at their books.
OCC were just being good capitalists like many other businesses. Because of there profile they are bound to get a bit more flak than most. If the regulators had kept their eye on the ball and not let the economy get to the point where it was running on empty then things would not have gone to excess.
But nobody does excess better than those guys right :?: :D
For the record, I'm still a fan 8)

Nice to see a show without the snowball fights, car beating, skidoo racing, temper tantrums or piano lessons.
Well done Paul Senior, a one and a half minute show, you’re on to a winner.
Personally I'd give him a lawn mower, tisk, tisk.

I think they showed more work and detail in that 1:35 video than in the show. There are details in the short vid that were left out of the show. But they did show how they determined to use stacks to blow the smoke into your armpit, and Sr screwing up the front forks in the show. That was left out of the short video.

At least when Jr was in the show they would fight around the bike. You could hit the mute button and look at the details on the bike and what parts to buy from Parts Unlimited.

Cima Green/OCC new bike(s)

Post by bearnyc »

I received word about something that I am NOT involved in, but wanted to share the info. I personally find their statements that this is the "world's first" of any sort to be questionable. I AM still happy to hear about anyone making diesel bikes. Below is the text I was forwarded...

Cima Green presents...
"WORLDS FIRST BIODIESEL
MOTORCYCLE "

"CIMA GREEN PARTNERS WITH ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS TO PRESENT THE GREATEST, ADVANCEMENT IN TRANSPORTATION SINCE THE INVENTION OF THE COMPRESSION-IGNITION ENGINE"

The next step in renewable resources!

Park Ridge, NJ, Jan 30th, 20112 -- Cima Green is proud to announce the unveiling of the World's First "Street Legal" Biodiesel Motorcycle at this year's National Biodiesel Board conference on February 7th, 2012 in Orlando, Florida. Cima Green has partnered with the renowned custom and production motorcyle manufator, Orange County Choppers, LLC, to create a pair of fully approved DOT and EPA performance motorcylces with the capability to run on a diesel/biodiesel fuel blend. Please note that this part of the conference will be open to the public on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012. Click here to learn more about the NBB.

This monumental accomplishment represents innovation in transportation engineering for both Cima Green and Organge County Choppers and will be featured in an episode of the hit television show, American Chopper, premiering in March 2012, on the Discovery Channel. Check your local listings for time and channel.

This achievement, for both Cima Green and Orange County Chopper is a remarkable triumph in the field of renewable energy. Yet, this motorcycle is not your typical bobber. With tooled leather accents, a solar panel seat and a diesel plant engine, this motorcycle is not only benefiting the enviornment, its stylish as well.

Cima Green, Found in 2006, is a renewable enrgy and agricultural commodity trading firm which specializes in biodiesel and live feedstock. Their mission is to educate people on the impotance of the use of renewable ethanol energy in order to ensure a "greener" future. Cima Green has become of the largest distributors of innovative "green" products and services across the United States. Click here to visit our website CIMA Green LLC

Maybe they can change it to run on BS I've been cooking biodiesel with my high school students for four years. And we are by far not the first to do this and pour it in a diesel bike. But its marketing sold by the shovel full!

Merge of two threads.

While this is old news being pushed again by Cima Green ...... still it helps promote diesel bikes.

Sometimes promotion has as much bad to it as good... this one..... pretty much all good. Bad that may come is if we grow too fast....... then two bads may follow; certification of same EPA tier as Auto/trucks will be required of motorcycle engines and state by state growth of "emmision testing" of motorcycles.

It seems this is a new bike(not the Monster Diesel).

Here's another link to some press about it(this one mercifully doesn't use the word "first" anywhere):

Looks like your right.

Intersting comment was said. EPA Approval?
Big (maybe) news is Paul Sr. said the engine was or soon to be?? EPA approved. Left comment on beanyc's linked page above about the event and emailed OCC to attempt to get more info on this EPA comment and what engine as well as tranny was used.

There is a flickr set with several images of the bike.

Image

It is said it's a three cylinder, and the engine cover on the picture has the letters TDI on it. But I can't identify the concrete engine used. Usually a TDI has to be from Volkswagen.

Well I've seen the new OCC bike, I've heard the new OCC bike and I've listened to both the interviews.. It's a good looking bike and sounds great. Would be interesting to get some more details on the engine used. :D

hmmmmm.... ok.... this is interesting.... Paul Sr. said it was a 4speed. Pic. shows much different. Apparently it is a knock off of an Ultuma 6speed (or rebranded Ultima)

FYI- the original size images posted on Flicker of this event are HUGE (aprox 4900x 3200) so if you want to investigate deeper into the bike; opposite mouse click the image on flicker then hit original

I can see the engine is a Briggs/Daihatsu 950 turbo diesel. The same as I put in my Harley back in 2005, also Terry Martin has in his John Deere painted Harley seen on Dieselbike.net, also built around 2005.
