rusty tank renovation
Latest project has a rusty tank on the inside, not available on ebay at present so I thought I would have a go at cleaning the inside before I coat with treatment. This is what I came up with, attach to concrete mixer, diesel of course. Add sand and gravel and water. Start mixer & leave for a couple of hours.

Concrete Mixer tank cleaning
Great ideas just keep coming around.
My mate did exactly the same thing last year, he used old nuts and bolts though.
How's the new bike coming Sam?

Well its comeing along but not as fast as I would like. Dam work keeps getting in the way.The bike this time is honda vf750. gearbox rd350 6 speed.Gearbox is in but not finished. engine ruggerini 950 not in yet. Has the potential of being OK have to see if it meets expectations. The Yam will be on exibition at the Stafford show in April. This has took 2 years to get it there. Its the biggest show in the world of its kind, so it should attract some interest.

I did think of using a two stroke gear box as they can be cut off the engine complete, no welding up the open end of the box. But the problem was top gear was only 1 to 1 ratio, and being a two stroke the gears surely would be too close together to get the best out of a big diesel engine, for motorway use anyway.
It would certainly be the way to go if we could swap the gears for a better set of ratios.

The RD gearbox is upended & the crankshaft is replaced with a shaft. The drive off the engine will go via belts or belt to the gearbox shaft. Just getting the engine in at the moment. Not sure about ratios at the moment, I am not too concerned though. My thoughts are a diesel doesnt have the revs but it does have the torque. So when you adjust the overall ratio between engine & box to give a higher top speed for a given revs in top, then 1st is still able to pull as the engine is able to give high torque at low revs, whereas a twostroke produces hardly any power at low revs. I would like to achieve a a resonable pull off in 1st almost top speed in 5th and get 6th only as an overdrive then I could make the best of long downhills. If I can do this I dont know at the moment but we will see.
