ok, like Dave, this too is from a mobile phone. I'm currently at a campsite in Peronne, France. The rally went well and everyone is gearing up for the 10th anniversary bash next year. Hopefully we'll see everyone and every bike we've ever seen try to make that one!
Busy writing up a rally report on this thing and will post when I get back. Plenty of pictures to come as well.
Good to meet everyone again and experience a very unique rally. So many ppl there pushing the envolope in different directions that it's truly a rally apart from any normal biker gathering. Well worth making the effort.

I think the main ingredients of Hamm chow are pork and beer.

Actually they were breakfast and lunch too!

Also the motorway services 'automat' also had a surfeit of pork based products available, but that was in Holland - never spotted a service station on the German side.

Rolled off the ferry earlier tonight and made it home ok. The bike was great and gave me no trouble. As always it got lots of attention at the camp sites to and from Hamm. Everyone keeps saying it sounds real nice. I must agree :D
I'll try and get the report of Hamm up over the next day or so. Most of the text was written on the Nokia E90 phone but it needs to be rearranged a bit. If anyone else has some gossip or news from there that should be included then fire it to my home email.

Does anyone have any further info on the Peugot bike that was at Hamm? I got talking to the owner but from what I could tell he said he didn't build it (unless he thought I was asking if he is a motorcycle manufacturer?!). I thought the plastics looked great on it and everything was tightly packed in. From what I understood it uses a 1.4 HDi engine which I think is 90hp. It also used the original ECU from the car although I had no idea how to ask if the software on it was modified to work without traction control etc. It uses a harley 5 speed box and clutch (so perhaps is chain primary?). Owner seemed like a nice guy too.

No info here apart from pictures I'm afraid. Language is a problem but he does speak good German I think. Maybe ask the question on the Dieselkrad forum? I'm sure if he did relay any specifics it would be to the guys over there.

Niel I think the bike in question is the same one that was at the 07 hamm rally built by the Frenchman. I did not think at the time it was a common rail engine but I could be wrong and like you say conversation was hard going.
