I was test running my ruggerini md151 (650cc twin air cooled) and noticed that there is practically no oil getting to the rocker arms, and none getting to the valves. There is oil pressure at the oil pump. The engine seems to be running normally (although I have no experience with this engine to say for sure).
This engine came from a garden tractor and looks like it sat for years until I got it, although it was under cover.
Does anyone with a ruggerini twin have any idea how much oil I should see splashing the top of my valves? Any suggestions as to how to clean the innards of the engine out with minimal mess and hassle? Thanks for the info.
Cheers,
Philip

There should be an oil line with a banjo bolt feeding the head. You could loosen the banjo bolt and make sure there is oil getting there.
You could flush the engine out by sloshing diesel fuel around and then dumping it. Don't be tempted to run it with any solvents in the oil. I think that does more damage then good! You could also remove the pan and valve covers to clean it - probably the best choice.
