Diesel Honda

Post by pietenpol2002 »

Yet another addition to the litter, this one from central Illinois here in the states. Obviously a honda with an engine of unknown origin. Anyone recognize it? It's very likely European given how few small diesels have been built in the states. Sadly, there was no text to accompany the pic other than to note that it is a diesel. Appears to be either a CB650 or 750.

why are these always one snapshot of just one side?

looks like a vbelt off the fanside driving an old automotive generator? maybe alternator?

Sorry to bring up an old topic...

The engine is a Petter.

I'm pretty sure its a Petter AA1 but not 100% sure of that...

either way, its not overly powerful...

I think 4.2bhp @ 2100rpm was the most powerful...

Yes, we've seen that one before. If i've not posted it yet I will soon. But I think it's up. An untidy tidy build wouldn't you say :?: :D

I have to say I have seen worse :S

Saw a custom bike a few months ago...
I can be a bit mad and have ridden and driven some downright dangerous vehicles...

The custom bike...I wouldn't of ridden it...

The frame looked like it was a 50cc frame, because the pipe used was outside diameter of an inch...
the bike flexed if you pulled it off the stand by the handgrips :S
and then to find out it had a GPZ750 engine :S

No thanks...

The engine here is a Petter AC1, clockwise rotation, 304cc, 6bhp @ 3600rpm, with electric start. (Source: Lister Petter A range Workshop Manual). This is quite a heavy engine, but would render the bike no heavier than the standard machine with a passenger, I should guess. A lighter flywheel is available for the AC1.

I have one of these, only anticlockwise, in my garage at home. It was a source of spare parts for the AD2, especially starter bracket and ring, plus variable speed mechanism, so I am familiar with it.
