First US Diesel motorcycle meet and what are the odds?

Post by LocomotiveBreath »

Hey all, just wanted to say is I think we (Coachgeo and I) had the first US Diesel Motorcycle Meet. With me delivering Coachgeo’s Tigers to him in Texas, 2,700 miles round trip, I’m pooped. It was great meeting and talking with George, and we/I want to give him all the support on building his bike we/I can.

While driving and almost to George’s home, and on the phone with my mom, she told me my Grandfather was buried in Lindsay TX, and only 5 minutes later I find myself driving through the small town of Lindsay, Texas. My mom has been our family genealogist for the last 45+ years.

But what are the odds that only 18.67 miles away from Coachgeo, on the same road as Whitesboro Texas, http://tinyurl.com/q74zta ; my great great Grandfather, Gustav A. Topf, 1840-1894 (53 years young), is buried at St. Peters Catholic Church. A German immigrant that came to America when he was 17, built a home, hotel, saloon, and farm in Iowa, then sold out and bought several (6) large blocks of land only four blocks from this very Church in 1893, died a year later.

So my trip was a win-win trip. Thank you George for letting me do this for you, if it were not for you, I wouldn't have met my Grandfather, very moving and Grandpa and I had a good talk, he's a very quiet person and let me do all the talkng. :D
