bigger single china diesel
Hi!
Today i got a mail from 'ryan' from winsun engine.
I appears that the 188 single diesel is offered again!
too bad there appears to be no winsun dealer here in NL
can anyone get a local dealer to order 18 pcs at 250 dollar/each?
i will be interested!

8.3kW from less cc than a Hatz 1B40. Sounds too good to be true, and probably is.
'92 Enfield + Hatz 1B40: street legal, weld up stainless exhaust, check engine rpm and change final drive sprocket.
Re: bigger single china diesel
cylinder contence is not the only responsible factor for the output. just like with other engines.
I do not have any doubts about the stated figures.

|Hi everyone,
i got a reply, the new 188 engine indeed needed more time for development and testing and it has 13 whopping HP?
but, sending goes only to a seaport.. i wouldnt know how to get an engine which is delivered at an unknown time at unknown place to my home, far away from the sea..
1 does anyone know a winsun dealer in the EU?
2 with 18 engine stogehter they are more cheap.. who also wants one?
Model of the engine
WS188FB
Type
Single,4-stroke,air-cooled,direct injection
Piston total displacement (mL)
456
Rated power/rated speed (Kw/r/min)
7.5/3000 8.5/3600
Lubricating way
forced & splashing
Starting way
recoil/electric
Rotation direction of output end
counter-clockwise
Fuel tank capacity (L)
5.5
Fuel consumption(g/kw.h)
270/3000 280/3600
Lube oil capacity (L)
1.65
Overall dimension (L×W×H)(mm)
420×440×495
Net weight (kg)
≤47/53

Re: bigger single china diesel
They have advertised vapourware before, is this engine real of they fishing to see how much interest it generates?
I note there is quite an increase in power from 3000 to 3600 revs, this would imply to me it is running very advanced. Might make a nicer ride retarded a bit.

Re: bigger single china diesel
China Diesel
456cc / 11% more displacement than 406cc
8.5Kw=11.4hp / 23% more horsepower than 406cc
My 186 clone according to owner's manual
406cc
6.62Kw=8.85hp
If we go by my engine's advertised 10hp rating then there's only an 11% difference in hp which matches the 11% difference in displacement. The China diesel probably has a continuous power rating of 9.8hp. Many engines have a max and continuous hp rating.
This is probably more realistic:
China Diesel
456cc
8.5Kw/11.4hp Max
7.3Kw/9.8hp Continuous
Carrol Stream
406cc
7.5Kw/10hp Max
6.6Kw/8.9hp Continuous
I would assume the China diesel produced a continuous 9.8hp to avoid disappointment. Were talking about a stroked or bored yanmar 186 clone. There's no reason for it to make in excess of 11% more hp than a 186 Yanclone.

Re: bigger single china diesel
well, its offered again with new specs on the website.
I've understoord from ryan that they have developed a new crankshaft for this engine. i hope the outer dimensions will be the same so i would be able to swap engines easily.
Or maybe i will make an other subframe to fit the engine in the middle but i still got the sort out how to fixate the additioanl support bearing for the longer gearbox shaft..

Re: bigger single china diesel
Hopefully they might keep going with the cc's to 500, maybe even 13/14 max hp (Now I'm only wishful thinking here ) - Then I'd be real keen to replace my 406. I guess even 50cc would make a small difference.
Who knows, we might see something develop = 456 to 500 isn't all that far away.
A;)

Re: bigger single china diesel
11hp continuous peaks my interest, but 12hp+ would be a must have. 650cc single gas burners are common, so 500cc diesel single should not be a stretch. I'm with you in that it would be a straight forward swap.
If the previous assumptions of the displacement/hp ratio are correct; 12hp continuous would require 508cc. I guess that is what I am holding out for.

Re: bigger single china diesel
I thought after I hit send that there is another way for a little more power, RPMs.
Using the 406cc for example:
9hp@3600RPM=13.13ft/lbs torque
13.13ft/lbs torque@3800RPM=9.5hp
13.13ft/lbs torque@4000RPM=10hp
In reality torque will drop off a little with RPM due to frictional loss and pumping inefficiencies due to engine not being designed to operate in this range. However, if the engine had better valve springs, cam advance, ported head/intake, advanced injection, and could handle the RPM; we would have an 11% increase in power. Maybe what we need is way to safely turn up the RPMs.

If you want to make these calculations try these sites:
http://www.ajdesigner.com/phphorsepower ... epower.php
http://www.ajdesigner.com/phphorsepower ... torque.php
Find your engines torque by plugging the manufactures max hp@rpm info on one of the calculators, then use that torque value on the other calculator to figure the hp at a different rpm.

Re: bigger single china diesel
Guys, don't do so complicated. then you a;lso have to take into account the loss of the gearing and stuff. Thinner gearbox oil also gives less power loss
anyway, it is 13hp, thats about 30% more then i have now. ofcourse you will notice the difference, but how much??
that's to wait and see.
i am planning to keep the 18teeth gearbox sprocket while with wife, luggage and strong wind ahaed it has some power deficiency. with this engine i suspect these issues to be solved.
Ofcourse it would be very nice if it could do the same with a 19 theeth gear, but i think then you need at least 18 HP or so..
13 hp diesel... good shifting at the right rpm's and the gearbox might have a reasonable long life..
(not like the front fork legs..)
