New forum

Post by Crazymanneil »

Hi all.

If all goes to plan tonight we should be moving to a new version forum. Most of you won't notice any change except the look of the newer version. As a result the forum will be down for an hour or so while migration happens.

If you have any direct links to the forums somewhere (eg favourites) you will need to update these as the forum is being hosted on a new server. I will try to put a redirect in place so you should notice only a slight delay when accessing it.

Thanks for your patience. Moving to the new version should keep us stable and secure for another while. The newer version will also allow picture hosting!

Cheers,

Neil

Thank you gentlemen for your efforts--I know how difficult it can be to accomplish anything that isn't directly linked to livelihood, food on the table, jingle in the pocket, honey-do lists, roof-leaks and all other pressing obligations, so thanks for this fun place and all it takes to keep it working!

Honey-do list! I didn't realise there was a term for it! Must remember that one although may neglect to tell the wife what it is...

Is this spammer protection crap permanent? Or a one time deal? Great if not, good addition and all, very annoying if it will ask me this for every time I want to log on my user.

Have you tried logging off and back on again to see if it asks again?

I don't think it should. It seems to be cookie based so it may ask you once when you are signing into the new forum or using a different computer and that should be it. PM me if its not the case and I'll look into it.

It didn't ask me at all but thats probably because I logged into the new forum before the antispam stuff was put on. Its only asked me when setting up a new user.

I just did and it asked me again on this computer, while it didn't ask me yesterday. Strange.

I just logged off a bunch of times and relogged, it seems fine. Lets see first. Probably this computer required a cookie as well, even though I had logged on previously.

The text confirm code has now been replaced with another version that should not bug anyone anymore once you are registered. Provided it keeps the spammers at bay that should be it for now.

Try not to come across as user friendly, you will regret it
