V-Twin w/transmission on ebay

Post by LocomotiveBreath »

Ebay # 270333575975, I've been looking at this and I'm interested in just the transmisson. Some in this forum fancy the V-twin engine, this might be of interest to those.

Wonder which manufacturer is on the label. Also strange they are shipped from Canada, seems to me you're incurring an overhead. But alas, they probably don't ship directly from China yet :(

They'd probably ship directly to you if you're willing to take a container full, and it meets your countries emissions standards. And note who's bike they're using to promote it.

interesting gearbox dave, hope its better built than their engines! would i be unbelievably stupid to think that with a top gear at 1:1 a 3600rpm diesel in a dnepr with a 3.89:1 drive could manage 80mph?

I'm thinking the direction of the output rotation of this engine/transmission combination is reverse of a Dnepr/Ural final drive. Thats why I was looking into the Honda GL1800 final drive with a 2.75:1 ratio with the more common drive direction and reversed from a Dnepr/Ural.

I contacted the seller, the transmission sells for $575 plus shipping, thats including a clutch, but at this time, I'm thinking of getting out of the motorcycle thing and building a Diesel Hot Rod.

thanks for your info dave, but i'm not too sure about it - i've been waiting for a reply from one of the people advertising this, seems very difficult to get serious info on it ( i presume the businesses selling the gearbox as an adjunct to their engines want to protect where it comes from - if anybody has any leads please let me know!). the ebay contact just got back to say direction of rotation at the gearbox output is clockwise (looking from the back) which is the same as my dnepr box? so the dnepr drive should work fine. btw redoing my crap maths for the nth time i now calculate the top speed at 70.
good luck with the hot rod, don't forget to come back when you get fed up with not being able to lean into any corners!
