Kubota ZB600

Post by reliantman »

My mate has a good used Kubota ZB 600 in his shed.
What sort of money should I offer him for it?

Thanks. Doug

Hi Doug,
as little as you can but they seem to look for around £300 on Ebay.Make sure you get the radiator etc.

Thanks John.
I just had a look at it in his garage, and it looks ideal.
I was sort of hoping it might be too big as I already have a VW trike to finish, and now I am thinking about a diesel Ural.
If it fits in the Ural frame without any cutting, I will probably go for it.

I think it's gonna be hard since frame lengthening is also needed for a single cylinder china engine.
Is it much larger then the kubtoa 480cc engine?
the latter one is fitting in an enfield

I have another option. I built a small trike frame to take a 1300 VW flat four, but the Kubota will drop straight in.
The back axle has a diff ratio of 5.1: 1. I am not much good at maths so I am not sure if a Ural box will be enough to turn the axle.

The standard ural diff is approx 4.2 : 1 with 19" rear wheel and approx 21/2"of tyre . So I think you might have trouble getting any top end speed.

Thanks.
I had an idea the gearing would all be out. I'm looking for a pre unit gearbox now to build a solo.

Still thinking about a pre unit box, but does anyone have a contact for Comet Torque converters in the UK, please.

Another daft question about this Kubota.
Which direction would the flywheel turn if it was mounted with the cylinders foward and the flywheel on the right hand side?

Thanks.Doug

Nearly all engines turn anticlockwise on the drive side but I am sure there is some exceptions.

Thanks for the reply.
I sort of knew the answer, but I found a vid on Youtube of a stationary running 600, which seemed to be turning clockwise. It is probably an optical illusion, so I thought I would check anyway.
