Dieselbike Maintenance

Post by Diesel Dave »

After spending most of the weekend fiddling with various petrol powered bikes with little success; I turned my attentions to poor old Sluggy who was in need of an oil change at least.

So in the fading light, I pulled the drain plug, absolutely every part of the bike is covered in crap - testiment to how hard he is worked these days.

5 minutes later and it's all done including fixing a broken wire to the main switch.

So how much time was spend on bikes this weekend - total about 15 hours, with just 5 minutes on the diesel and it's still the only one that's fully roadworthy.

Sluggy's still clocking over 360 miles a week - diesel bikes rule!

Keep the faith

Yeah don't you just love used "Diesel Engine Oil", I'm sure you could nearly paint with the stuff as it has the consistency of black ink :)!

Maintenance seems to be the same for me, the Enfield an hour a week, this being more checking then anything else.

The dirt bikes can take up to 6 hrs a week and require replacing bits n pieces, even got the hot glue gun out this week :), it's not from dropping the bike either, it seems they rattle themselves to death with blinkers, bulbs, wiring, spokes etc taking a beating. Then there's the time to wash all the mud and crud off

Its all fun and probably keeps me getting into any other sort of mischief ;)

A;)
