Howdy. I've joined this list tonight. I'd like to build a diesel motorcycle. I've been restoring airhead BMW's for the past five years, so have some experience, although by trade I'm in the medical field. I'm as new to this as I was to airheads when I bought my first BMW.
I've been looking at engines. I like the Hatz. My main concern is how to know how to mate up a transmission.
Is there a good guidebook for this? Is there an archive of tech articles available online?
I'd be interested in coming to the UK to see some good bikes. There is not much available in the US for help.
Thanks,
James

Entry into Diesel bike building

James,
Try the diesel bike group on Yahoo. Its not as active as it used to be but I found it invaluable in getting my project off the ground.
Archives take a bit of trawling through but loads of essential info. Particulary helpful with planning tranmissions are a couple of spreadsheets designed to give theoretical speeds from given ratio's, wheel size etc.
Good luck
