I have a '78 Honda Goldwing with a 3.4 to 1 rear ratio which gives about 65mph at 3,000 rpm
I have a HATZ 2G30 3,000 rpm max.
I have a '20 or '30s car 3 speed which is quite small. High is 1to1 as you would expect. Second is pretty deep 1.77 to one.
You guys with HATZ engines have to shift down much or does that HATZ keep you going most of the time in high gear?

you should probably look for something with an overdrive, try to take advantage of the engines torque, you can always shift down a gear if its too high, but cant gear up if you dont have the extra gears, the more ratios you have the more rideable it will be, dont limit yourself to 65 mph.
I could use a Mustang t-5 that has overdrive but they are about 75 lbs without a clutch and flywheel so maybe 100 lbs total. That is kind of heavy.
I could go with a harley set up and belt drives but they are pretty expensive thease days... I'd still mount it all in line and use the shaft drive. I'd have the belts or chains runnig cross ways I guess...
How much over 65 can you go with 20 hp anyway?

if the suzuki transmission will work for you use that, as for expected top speed i guess you will have to do some math and figure out the foot pounds in relation to the weight of the bike, keep it simple , light and uncluttered, figure out your gearing and get your cruising speed around 2000 rpm, then you still have some roll on power
