Acme Motori engines?

Post by chevy43 »

I'm looking at a surplus two cylinder Acme Motori Diesel. It is about 1300 cc. Does anybody know if they are good engines? It is pretty small and light for the size.

Curiously, Acme doesn't show anything that big. They only build to 740 cc's. They appear to have some Lombardini flavor to them and are indeed distributed in the States by Lombardini. If you have the details on the engine you could call their headquarters in Georgia and inquire.

Or the Acme engine listings can be found on their main site below.

I have two of them now. The apear to have the same crank case as the HATZ. The heads are a little different. My Hatz has a cross flow and these have both manifolds on one side. I would bet a $100 that the bottom end is exactly the same as HATZ.
There must be some design sharing going on in Europe.

The seem to be very good quality and run very well.

They are rated at 16 HP at 1800 but spin to 3,000 nice and smoothly.
