Nick wrote me the following. Can anyone help him out
"I'm planning on building a custom bike in california with diesel power, and I'm trying to find more information about the legality of diesel (emissions wise.) I imagine you would know nothing about this, but perhaps you know of someone who would? Maybe someone who imported an enfield into california? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick"

very few places have motorcycle emissions testing from what i've found. licensing my bikes was as easy as pulling up to the dmv inspection (MOT inspection station for my UK mates) and showing the VIN plate, and that the indicators, lights and turn signals work. they issued a title (V-5 ) and off i went.

UK SVA for a new(ly built) diesel bike is pretty straightforward from what I have read (I have the manual). Basically the thing can't emit so much smoke as to block visability of the car behind!!! It'd be noise would be likeley to be the sticking point over this side of the pond (plus silly things like measuring the curve on fastners sticking out of the bodywork!)
