Possible Club names
I thought I'd throw this one out there for fun Does anyone have any suggestions of possible names for a Diesel motorcyclists club? I guess it would have to translate ok across europe.
'Black Smokers MC'?, 'Dirty Torquers MC'? Or how about 'Mean Squeezers MC'?
More from me: 'Sooty Torquers',
Anymore suggestions

Great challenge Stuart. I spent the afternoon on the mower with time to think, and this is the best I could do.
1. Black Tail Bikers (an obvious reference to the particulate plume that trails us)
2. The Rudolf Riders (as a tip of the hat to the renowned Rudolf Diesel)
3. The Clank and Clatter Club (quite self-explanatory if your hearing's intact)

Name
With obvious reference to the 59 club we could be the C12H23 club.
Or the Fractional Distillates.

It is not in the arrival brightly planned. But in the Dreams Men Dream along the way we find the Golden road to Samarkand.

CLUB NAME
If not "DRAB", why not "Slow, Easy and Cold Riders"? You would need a very long memory to appreciate the significance. This was the name that disgruntled commuters gave to the South Eastern and Chatham Railway back in the 19th Century.(Oh, yes, there is nothing new, is there?)
Stormcoat.
P. S. What are our aspirations? A little reflection on this may help us to decide?

Name.
Of course, we are pioneers, so why not "Green Pioneers" or "Frontier Bikers" or even "Riders of the Next Horizon". I am going away to think.
Stormcoat.
P. S. We should be more upbeat with these names, shouldn't we?

Or we could be the "CC Riders" with reference to compression combustion, although technically it should be compression ignition.
Or we could revert to the origins of the diesel engine when Rudolf used coal dust as his fuel. And then we could be:
"The Coal Dust Club"
or
"The Black Lung Bikers"
Cheers,
Ron

That's great Avery And there's me thinking of something along the line of 'Black Tail Rats' when it should have been 'Dogs' all along! There had to be an animal in there somewhere
If I walked about with a patch on my back that said 'DOG', would I get barked at? Maybe prospective members could be 'young pups' and more senior members 'Old Dogs'

Er, hot dog was all in fun of course since I sensed we just clowning around for a bit
To digress for a second - pietenpol2002: I assume by your login that you have one of those fine birds? The other day I stumbled on a reference to an expired ebay post (couldn't get the details) about a Model A Ford engine converted to run on diesel. Now, since Pietenpols were originally powered by Model A Ford engines.....
Oh, for the non aviation folks, Pietenpols are airplanes.
About the Dog - for the "O" in dog, the O could be a drop from an injector above it. Hehe.
I'll put on the thinking cap to see if I can come up with some suggestions for you.

Hey, I like that. I can picture a graphic of two bikes - a petrol bike on the side of the road, out of gas, the hare's pockets hanging out empty, and a diesel thumper plodding past, the tortoise wearing a big grin. Hehe. Do we have an artist in the crowd???oldbmw wrote:How about the "tortoise club", from the fable of the hare and toroise ?? When petrol gets to £5 a litre the oil burners will probably get about more than the alchohol burners....... they will be on alchohol by then i suspect

My Bike is called obendedob which is an old Essex Dialect word for snail so tortoises and snails etc seem appropriate.Especially as it takes so long to get places you sometimes have to carry your home on your back in the form of a tent.
