Kick Start Clone

Post by pietenpol2002 »

Given the recent discussion regarding starting, it seemed the appropriate time to post this question. As a part of my build I'm converting to kick start on my Yanmar clone and here's what I know thus far. A complete pull of the rope starter results in 3 full revolutions of the crank. The full stroke of a kick starter is only about 90 degrees of the kick start shaft.

For those of you who have a clone running through an Enfield gearbox, what is the ratio of kick start shaft to engine revolutions. Thanks for the help.

Hi Ron
cant give you stats that you asked for...but can tell you I have one genuine Yanmar and one clone Yanmar Enfield...both kick start only...and they both start first kick every time...so dont worry about changing to kick start.
best regards

About 1.5 turns of the crank with a full kick. It is plenty, just position the crank correctly as is well documented in previous posts, before the money kick.
