ready to build

Post by johnfireball »

Hi all . Parts are now ready to assemble. The engine is a swiss made Mag diesel built by Motosacoche. The plate reads
Cylindree 551
Alesage 86 Course 95
No 3080 Type 1055drtx20
The injector & pump are bosch units and the fuel filter is a Fispa filter with label reading Filtro 3036.04 and cartuccia li1603. Can anyone translate the swiss for me? I can guess its 551cc.Where do I get this filter? Its fitted with a nice ac genny giving out 40vac which should power the required lighting. Theres one hell of a thump from this motor at a guess i would say 12hp. Its got a throttle control and a set screw to set max rpm. The flywheel weighs probably 20 kg's and will be machined to accept the dnepr clutch. the motor looks like it will fit neatly into the frame only requiring widening of the bottom tubes and putting a small hump in the frame under the tank. I'm eager to start and await slightly warmer weather.
John

Wow a 551cc single, should give a nice thump down the road. :D
12hp? I thought 440cc engines were 12hp :?:

Hi Ian,
I've actually changed my mind about using this engine and have now obtained a Diahatsu 998cc turbo diesel and will fit this instead. I will save the smaller diesel for another project.
John.
