What Else Does Everyone Ride Or Drive?
Just curious. I already posted the family portrait of my CX500 and two Solexes.
This is the rest of the two wheeled family. I can quit anytime.
Four wheeled rides are nothing special; Chevy Silverado, Audi A4, and a Wrangler. There is a restored 1948 De Soto Coupe arriving in a month or two.
What's really special to you guys?

Just my good ol' rusty but trusty Honda Shadow.
Half a million kilometers old, everything from trucks to trees have tried to kill it with me on it and yet it rides.
(...the poor old bike had enough of my shite tough, its started to have issues.)
Diesel bike still under construction.

My wife would ditch her Audi for that AK350, Diesel Dave. I think I've seen one in the US.

Re: What Else Does Everyone Ride Or Drive?
I sold my diesel Enfield in 2013 and have been on the naughty step since having had a petrol FJR1300 and various petrol cars (including a beautiful Volvo 740 with only 30k miles). By pure chance I'm now back in the world of diesel as I bought the last unregistered right hand drive SAAB 9-5 earlier this year which is a diesel twin turbo 190PS Vector SE. It had been stored outside for a period of time and shifted between different storage facilities and the paintwork was pretty bad as a result. It's not something I'd normally do but I had the car fully detailed including correction work on the body then it coating in GTechniq Crystal Serum to protect it for the long term. It's amazing stuff the Crystal Serum is - well worth watching some of the YouTube videos about it. If you mess it up putting it on it isn't ever coming off!

Re: What Else Does Everyone Ride Or Drive?
I... uh, um. Er... Letting the side down... A lot. (I'm mostly here to gawp at the build threads... )
I don't even have a motorcycle license, and neither of my vehicles is diesel (Though at least one may become diesel in the future. See if you can guess which!) because I rarely do enough miles often enough to take advantage of a diesel. (Certainly not opposed to diesels in the slightest, but horses for courses; and short runs lightly loaded is not the course for a diesel, imo.)
The Skud
1994 Skoda Favorit, 1300cc, daily driver; mostly in the standard hideous "Caribbean Green" turquoise. Runs great, when she runs right. (The rest of the time, it's hilarity, near-backfires, and random stalls. It's got auto-stop technology! ) Bought primarily because cheap, and I've grown attached to the oddball. Had a relatively easy life, was at 65000 (and change) miles when I bought her; now well on the way to 70000.
Mayhem Maybe
1958-ish Bedford RLW, 300cin, project; "Yellow-ish", runs like a top, steers quite nicely once moving, stops via force of nature rather than brakes (for now). Bought because I'm crazy. 48889 miles on the clock, and hopefully many more left in her.
(The trike scheme in my .sig is somewhere in the pile of possible things for the future, amongst lots of other bits and pieces. I do still have some of my scribblings for the 2-stroke diesel triple somewhere, too!)

Dreaming a dream, and scheming a scheme, of a diesel trike.
Re: What Else Does Everyone Ride Or Drive?
Really like that old truck, Tamber.
I had a 1952 Ford F2 (3/4 ton) that I gave to my daughter and son in law. It had a 3.5L six that I built with water injection, dual carbs, twin point ignition, and dual exhaust header. I'll be getting the engine back as the son in law is dropping a diesel in the Ford because carbs and points are beyond him. He's a locomotive diesel mechanic so it understandable.

Re: What Else Does Everyone Ride Or Drive?
Thanks! So do I, despite it being a lot of work yet. (Hoping to get it back on the road before I start thinking about engine swaps, but one of those ISF 2.8 Cummins looks to be just about a perfect replacement for the Bedford 300, power and torque-wise. That's a way off, though.)cheesy wrote:Really like that old truck, Tamber.
Carbs are a bit dark-magic to me, too; but I managed to get the Kettering ignition into working, after some faff and a few backbox explosions. Diesel engines are far more logical, to me, and rely a bit less on (apparent) wishful thinking.cheesy wrote:because carbs and points are beyond him.
(There is a 'build' thread elsenet, where I'm trying to keep all the truck-related nonsense: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.ph ... edford-RL) )

Great bike Mike. But, even from this distance I can hear a faint knock. Probably the entire bottom end. Might as well move ahead with your diesel conversion. Don't you think?

You must have better hearing than me because this one sounds like a well oiled sewing machine, albeit it a Russian sewing machine, when I'm sitting on it. Way too big for my Lombordini anyway.pietenpol2002 wrote:Great bike Mike. But, even from this distance I can hear a faint knock. Probably the entire bottom end. I feel utterly inadequate with my Smart car in this thread. It's just a transitional solution though. I'm actually looking into something with a lot more meat on the bone, so to speak. lol
