Detroit diesel 3-53
Has anyone been crazy enough to attempt a Detroit diesel conversion? I have an old 3cyl 2 stroke with a supercharger. The motor itself weighs about as much as a naked goldwing, so I figure it should be alright there. They sit at 33in high, 27in wide, and 40in long. Running, they produce 101hp with 200ft/lb of torque, at a max of 2800rpm. On paper this sounds doable to me. Please stop me if this sounds like the fevered ramblings of a madman.

Detroit diesels LEAK OIL! If you got one that you think don't then the bugger is dry ! They are worse than any HD that was ever built !

Re: Detroit diesel 3-53
We have a saying in the diesel industry about Detroit's. "If it ain't leaking, it ain't working right." I figured I would need to build my own frame. I've been looking at frame jigs and tube benders. I have ideas, I just need to make them reality. First I have to get the dam motor out of the crane it sits in. This will be a back burner kind of project, as I already have a kubota zb600 I'm looking to fit On a frame.
