Hamm 2016 dates? = 9-11 Sept
I am hoping to get FrankenBrick up and running and Beta tested for Hamm. I wont make The Big Knock in May as I am in N Ireland with the MZ Riders Club, but hope to get to Germany.
Doubtful FB would be finished for end May anyway as I am on holiday in Cyprus for 2 weeks in May anyway so no shed for that period of time.
I have seen dates of Fri 9 to Sun 11th for Hamm but cant find them again.
Does anyone know the 2016 Hamm dates?
Thanks
JM

No problem mate, I'll even organize a ride from the ferry to Hamm over some nice dyke roads if anyone is interested.

The date is closing in once more, sadly enough I won't be able too finish my diesel bike in time... ...again...
That doesn't mean I wont be coming over tough. My Shadow will need to pull my sorry ass over there once more!
Is there any interest in an meet-up at the Hook port for a nice ride over to Hamm? I'll gladly organize something.

The missus and I complete with Enfield and trailer shall be arriving on the night boat from Harwich to the Hook on Friday morning returning on the Sunday night boat.
We are intending a back roads ride with plenty of stops on the way - happy to convoy up if it suits you?

Sounds good Dave, lets see if anyone else wants to come along.
Same roads as last time, or have you got something planned out all-ready?
At what time will you be arriving at the port?

Nowt planned, I would just do my usually lazy method of telling the say nav to use a 'windy roads' route with the 'medium' option.
Boat's supposed to get in at 06:30....... We could wend our way eastwards for a few hours and you could meet up along the way?

I figured I'd show up at the same place as last time. The fish-stall/fish and chips shop right outside the ferry.

Jeff & I are jumping the 9.30am ferry from Newhaven on Sunday. We will be taking the scenic route and winding our way south through French villages to start. Much work has been done on the Ruggerfield with extended bars, new throttle assy, tail pipe, pannier racks & primary side setup. Old clutch is back on with five plate upgrade. I'm taking the Grom again, it being more suitable for the speeds, roads etc.
See you all there!

Re: Hamm 2016 dates? = 9-11 Sept
Ouch, that's pricey. Sorry, no code.
Also a rather late arrival time if Dave's boat arrives on time that would be an hour and 45 minute wait.
But I do believe your ferry docks on the other side of the harbor as-well.
This will be where Dave is getting off.
https://www.google.nl/maps/place/Hoekse ... 0399?hl=nl
This will be you.
https://www.google.nl/maps/place/P%26O+ ... 9993?hl=nl
We could meet further inland as Dave suggested, considering the speed difference between you two the waiting time should be less.
What do you guys think? If we are meeting further inland I'd suggest this place:
https://www.google.nl/maps/place/P%2BR+ ... 4397?hl=nl
It's a sizable parking lot.
Edit: Just read the rest of the forum, seems to me that Dave is in agreement?
Rotterdam is a rather sizeable city and you'll be in rush-hour traffic so do take care. It'll be about an 40km/25mile ride for the both of you.
But I'm guessing touchwoodsden will be able to use the highway, thus making up for time "lost" on the ferry.

No problem for me (us).
And I have no problem bashing down the motorway, even with the missus on the back and the trailer in tow. We almost reached 58mph today on a test ride, then we hit a 1% hill and that stopped all the fun.

I'd suggest taking it easy then, no hills to worry about in the Netherlands, just wind. You've got an Hour and 45 minutes head-start on touchwoodsden.Diesel Dave wrote:No problem for me (us).

Ours was £77 return from Newhaven. At that price I am willing to overlook the Vstrom that fell on me after the rider pushed it into the front wheel clamp & walked away

OK chaps, the trailer is mostly loaded and there's only 2 more sleeps 'till we depart there hallowed shores for adventures abroad.
So the ferry is due to chuck us off at 06:30 (I'm pretty sure it used to be a more sensible hour?), no doubt by the time we get off the boat and through passport control it may well be 7am.
According to the map it's a 40 minute trip, but I know from past experience that it will be busy passing the sea of glass houses and then the Rotterdam bypass motorway so say at least an hour.
We should be at the car park for 8am at which point I will be searching desperately for coffee.
We shall hang around for an hour or so and await you guys turning up.

Dave! I got caught out by this on the family holiday earlier in the year - it's 8am rather than 6.30am (which is turf out time on the return journey). We were out dead on though and the passport control remains nice and quick.Diesel Dave wrote:So the ferry is due to chuck us off at 06:30 (I'm pretty sure it used to be a more sensible hour?), no doubt by the time we get off the boat and through passport control it may well be 7am.
If you don't already have it I wholeheartedly recommend downloading the European McDonald's POI (which covers the UK too). Whatever you think of the food it's marvellous nearly always having one close/en route by when you need a coffee/pee/both. Saved me a few times when I went to Switzerland and Holland is like the UK in there always seems to be one close by...Diesel Dave wrote:We should be at the car park for 8am at which point I will be searching desperately for coffee.

Re: Hamm 2016 dates? = 9-11 Sept
I will let you know if I’m happy enough tomorrow to buy a ferry ticket. I have worked for the last 9 months for this and the electronics and powder coating have put me back by 2 months otherwise Thunderbirds would be go. At the moment, my arse is twitching purely because I don’t cherish the thought of breaking down. If I break down within a 50 mile radius, I can resolve it myself but as soon as I get over the water, it is a different box of frogs. Okay, if I can do the 50 miles, I can do hundred miles and if I can do hundred miles I can do 500 miles. We shall see.
At least I have European breakdown cover if it all goes pear-shaped and like all of us on here, I am reasonably mechanically competent.
I am doing a few electrical bits in the morning on the idiot lights on the dashboard and putting a socket in for the satnav and I have already put some tools away and little bits nuts, bolts, bits of wire, connectors, et cetera in anticipation so at the moment, the plan is on. I just wish I had had 2 weeks more to do a few more Rideouts.

The rope's a standard production item on Harleys sold here in the states. The attached magnet drug behind collects the parts shed by vibration. It's why little aluminum is used on a Hog.

For all UK based folks. I live in the south of the Netherlands and i have a handy folding trailer which fits inside my car and can carry your diesel motorcycle.
So if you need transport we can arrange something for cost of coffee etc. (not the cost of time because time leads to friends which is an invaluable asset.)
I probably won't make it on the Track as it's not done yet. Still waiting on parts. So the NC will do. Or maybe the skoda... no idea yet.
