Nice but.......

At 28:1 reduction the torque through the final belt will be more than the surface friction can hold so it will burn the belt, also that 90 degree rear drive will explode. (say 30Nm for the motor (could be double) x 28 = 840 Nm :shock: if it tore your leg off it wouldn't slow down one bit.

With a torque limiter it would make for a very smooth pull away.

Try a Torotrack if you want something to screw with your head as it can swing from forwards to neutral and into reverse just by changing ratio - essentially there is a gear ratio that matches the input gear with the epicyclic so a 'geared' neutral', going below that gear will send it into reverse going above will send it forwards. It's based on 'traction fluids' and was supposed to be the ultimate transmission for trucks a few years back but don't know what happened since then.
