Disappointing turbo performance

Dr. Depcik's email response regarding the Yanmar L100 in the post above from earlier today.

We have not tested the maximum power capabilities of the engine after adding both the turbocharger and the common rail fuel injection system. Quite frankly, we are afraid of blowing the head off of it because we know we can easily exceed the rated pressure after these modifications. Adding the turbocharger was relatively easy, but the common rail fuel injection system required a student devoting most of his PhD dissertation to it.

What a completely useless article. "It was installed" is the summary of their turbo experience. They blew $150k for literally no gain in knowledge over what has been accomplished more than 10 years prior in production engines.

I used to be a lecturer in a University. 'They came, they spent the funding, they kept their heads down'... A part of the bunch of reasons I felt shite, and left.

There has been a lot of posts on this subject, basically trying to get more power out of a single 10hp. My question is has anybody succeeded in this quest? If they have what are the implications on MPG and longevity of the engine.

If you're simply out to get more power, the easiest way without constantly over-fueling the engine is injecting nitrous and propane to the intake.

I always found (on Mz 250s, one with a sidecar ) that the best approach to comfortable, fast motorway cruising with reasonable fuel economy was to pick the appropriate large vehicle to tailgate. Outfit - tipper truck with heavy load on. Solo, on a good day - National Express coaches! Perhaps a similar approach might pay dividends here.

That guy is a joke, he has no mechanical sense and absolutely no understanding of how to tune a diesel.
Just look at his trike, he is using plain heim joints for steering and suspension loads.
