Has anybody ever installed a glow plug into a yanmar clone? Seems like the only alternative for cold starting.
Does anybody have anybody have experience with them in general? Are they worth it?

Where are you thinking of putting the glow plug? maifold or cylinder head?
My small Yanmar has a prime hole which is the same as Lister/Petter diesels. Infact the Petter is quite ingenious the sump filler cap has a rubber top, connected to the dipstick which is hollow this allows you to suck up a small amount of sump oil and add it to the prime hole. The prime hole is just connected to the inlet manifold in front of the valve. This then enters the cylinder and increases the compression ratio for starting cold. Anyway after a bit of global warming it wont be required.
