Sluggy's rebuild

Post by Diesel Dave »

Now old Sluggy and I have been together for over 10 years and some 160,000 miles together.

Through summer heat and winter frost (enough to make your leg ache trying to start the bugger), through flooded back lanes and dusty fields, through London traffic and latterly some Dutch dyke roads (no sniggering at the back).

We have suffered two moderately large impacts, one when I ran unto a dustcart and another when I got rear-ended by a pubescent driving a knackered Ford Fiesta.

In all the old bike has been rebuilt several times, even went from 360cc to 400 and from 5 speeds to 4, from twin saddles to single saddle to dual seat.

However as the last trip to Hamm seems to have proven that just about everything is now worn out it's time for another rebuild and this time I do need an electric starter.

So say 'au revoir', to old Sluggy's current guise, no doubt he will look somewhat different next time you see him.

(Insert drama)
Sniff, sniff, good bye not so rusty but trusty sluggy. You've served him well!
(End drama)

Dutch dyke roads.

Can't wait to see Sluggy after the makeover.
Had the pleasure of riding it, still grinning when thinking back of it, love the darn thing.

Is that a puddle of diesel I see below it? :D

Er... Now don't shoot me for the question but which bits of Sluggy remain?!

Looks absolutely fab though - I recognise that exhaust header so I'm guessing Henry's had your wallet prised well and truly open

She's purty! Might have to start calling her something like "Classy Slug" maybe combine them to Cluggy?

The registration document....... :D

I jest of course, he's just had a new motor, tank and seat. (it's zoo easy to make an Enfield look refreshed

This is tank number 3, his original motor made enough vibes to destroy the first two. I was on seat number 2, the first Lycett copy fell apart in very short order, the second finally collapsed on the way back from Germany after years of water soaked foam finally did for the metal base.

I finally collected my trailer from Henry too, comfort camping here we come.

Nicely done Dave.
Did you replace the transmission? Or is it still the extremely smooth shifting one as before? :P
