Difficult decision to make

Post by alexanderfoti »

Hi all

Due to unforseen circumstances, I am being forced to move.

Where I live at the moment, I have an area for my bikes where I can park them and work on them, this was a step down from where I built it, but ok I suppose.

Now I am moving somwhere where there is nothing but on street, residents permit parking.

As a result, im thinking of selling the Xj600 diesel, the only problem is that the gearbox isnt functioning at the moment, Im moving in 1 months time, and have to sort a CBR 1000 out so its rideable in that time also.

Not sure, I have a lot of blood sweat and tears in this bike, but its no way been built well :), when the gearbox is working its reliable, but its rough aroudn the edges.

Any ideas? Would hate to part with it, but its either fix it before I move , which I dont think will happen with this weather, or get rid.

Good luck on fixing her... but ya got to remember..... there will be other fixes to do here and there. Time to look for a storage/garage you can rent.... share the rent with another gear head that likes to tinker?

Good point, There are some garages around the corner that I might put signs up on to ask if anyone wants to rent them, you never know!

Its what im waiting for! :)

Managed to get the box back into place and mesh correctly with the selector and I can now go through the gears, and actually identify them! Better than before, need to fill it back up with oil and put the sprocket, chain and clutch back on!

Then test!

Hi
If you decide to get rid off it, I would take a look at it. I am in London too.
Cheers

Good news everyone! Back in action, had a ride around the block with no breakdowns.

Oddly, I have to pull my gearchange spindle all the way out manually before the shifter would work. Not sure whats going on there, I puta spacer and a circlip in the meanwhile.

All running well!
