Oil pick-up, restrictor and return

Post by Smoky&thebike »

I’m planning to install a 10HP clone in a CB250. I usually put more emphasis on reliability than performance. That being said, I’d rather have a remote oil filter than the screen type use on these diesels (maybe both?).

I know the turbo crowd feeds the turbo from a pick up point at the oil pump and return the oil to the oil pan, but I haven’t seen a good picture/detail of the pick-up and return points. Could somebody post some pictures of these areas (what you have done) and explain if a restrictor would be needed (of what size, etc.).

From the question, you already know that I don’t much about these engines… hope to learn a fair amount from here…

Thanks,

JJ

I suspect you would need a restrictor. The easiest place to take the pickup from would be the oil pressure port.

I do wonder what my screen looks like. My engine has 3500 miles on it, and I havent taken the screen out yet (its sandwitched between my gearbox and engine).

I monitor my oil pressure closely.

The small motors usually have an optional kit for a remote oil filter; reason being that some of the installations would make it impossible to change the std internal filter.
