This is the advice the organiser of the German Rally gave me. Just pick a sensible location (usually central), stick your flag in the ground and sit back. It's always slow at first but these things have a habit of growing. Ok, so it might be a bit slower in our case, but the Hamm rally got many more bikes than say the BSA rally we visited this year on the run out.
Bikers are always looking for an excuse to ride out for a few beers :D

If the Bat & Ball is central I must get a new map.
Only joking carry on the good work.

I would be very interested in attending such an event. Who amongst us lives near a scenic area and is interested and willing to organize?

The Bat & Ball is central from a European standpoint, Sam  And that's where most bikes are :D BTW, I think your current position as being one of Britains most prolific Diesel bike builders is under threat. Trevor Williams told me he has built three bikes as well. He may well come to the Rally this year :D Yanmar RE bikes.

No comment on Chicago  lol..but you are close to Wisconsin and that has some very pretty areas...... Another idea is the Black Hills of South Dakota..which I am close to, but I am quite sure I lack the organizational skills to plan a rally.

Another idea would be to attend an already organized small rally, wouldn't be diesel specific but could be lots of fun if several of us showed up. There is a small BMW rally in Spearfish South Dakota every year, nice campground, good food, nice scenery and they would welcome any and all that wanted to attend. Its called the Black Hills Buffalo Stampede. Despite owning several BMW motorcycles over the years, two now, I don't think I have ever showed up to this rally on a BMW. Last year I rode the Enfield diesel and it was the hit of the rally, generated tons of interest. I dunno, just brainstorming here.

How somewhere about on Route 66?

How about somewhere on Route 66? http://www.historic66.com/ How about somewhere near the HDT headquarters. Since some folks in this forum are mesmerized by the wizardry of the fine folks at HDT, why not there?

It’s near historic Route 66, the mother road of America.

Having never been to one I wouldn't know what expected for a Host, but I live in North Central Texas. Just North of the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.

I would have to clear it with the wife,(who is Co Owner of the place) so ya'll think about it.

I'm about 9 miles from the Texas Motor Speedway of that help.

Only 3 miles North of downtown Rhome Texas

We've had "KLR Riders" and "Two Wheel Texan Riders Meet & Greets" out here before.

Plenty of space for tent and RV camping if the ground is dry.

And I have a big shop to gather in if it rains.

For the mostest people, PA and CA are probably best. PA has a lot of machinist, bikers, tinkerers and is central to mid-atlantic and NE. Nice roads in summer. Suggest York/Carlisle area. CA has most motorcyclists and enviro aware folks.

It occurred to me you might all like to meet up here then decide from there where to stage your next meeting.
