Just wondered whether these guys were still in business?
"The Hurricane system (consisting of the SC Typhoon or Tornado ECU and an external SC Injector Driver Module - IDM) enables simple installation of common rail engines."

We'll need more companys like this if we're ever to make the jump to higher performance engines

Re: Diesel engine management systems
Hello,
Yes we're still here! Unfortunately you caught us just as we were launching our new website, your link is to the old site which is now dead. Our new website is here:
http://www.specialist-components.co.uk/engineering/
We offer standalone programmable diesel engine management ECUs for all common rail diesel engines including both solenoid and piezo injectors. We can run engines originally equipped with Bosch, Siemens, DENSO and Delphi engine management systems.
We are always interested to be involved with new diesel projects and we are currently sponsoring a company in the USA that are attempting to break the diesel bike land speed record using one of our Hurricane engine management systems.
If you have any enquiries, please post on here or email us at info@specialist-components.co.uk
Thanks
Simon

Simon,
This is good news and thanks for the update I'm sure that any guys contemplating this kind of advanced project will be glad to know your company already has experience in providing assistance to Diesel motorcycle pioneers Onward and upward

Re: Diesel engine management systems
Hey Stuart and Simon. I'm the guy in the US using Simons ECU (sorry I haven't posted any updates recently). Let me first start of by saying the Smart engine using the SC ECU was relatively easy to get running (in a previous post here I included a link to a YouTube clip of the engine running) and the injection maps and engine parameters very easy to modify. I say relatively easy to get running because the wiring harness (loom) is more involved compared to even some of the most complicated motorcycle harnesses I've had to make and the fact that the SC ECU is actually 2 boxes. The second of which is the injector controller which needs to handle much higher power due to the nature of the high pressure injectors. The only other major issue (IIRC) is that the ECU needs a way to determine which phase of the crank cycle it is on. I solved this by replacing the vacuum pump with a plate I made to hold a Hall Effect sensor that triggers off the vacuum pump drive dog on the end of the cam (once I figured out it's position relative to piston one TDC). FWIW, I haven't spent too much time with tuning once I got the engine running because after some limited dyno time with the engine it was decided to spend more time building and refining the chassis and aerodynamic bodywork. With some relatively simple tweaks to the fueling and increasing the boost from the turbo I got just under 75hp at around 3800rpm (if memory serves) at the crank from the smart engine and I think there is plenty more to go.

75hp is good but I hear they only go to 80 and then you have to start monitoring exhaust temp etc. My machine may well be in a lower state of tune (we think closer to 45?) but I am really not sure. Any, I am pleased with the performance and it has plenty of torque for touring I don't know any other ECU details having not built the bike myself.

What about electrically controlling a l100 yanmar, you would have to find a piezo injector that fits
