My Honda CB750 diesel project

I am building a diesel bike of a CB750 chassis with Lombardini 502 engine.

Ahhh. which Micro car? Suspect that the CVT you'll be adapting is manufactured by CVtech in Canada. Check their site. http://www.cvtech-ibc.com/ and with some digging around your liable to find the model/type of your clutches. Might help steer you.

We have a CVT forum in here. Would love for you to update us on your tweaking of the clutches in a thread there when you get to that point.

The CVT looks much better on a larger bike than it did on my MZ. My CVT was from an Aixam
At first I was going to say you have fitted the rear pulley on the wrong way round but I see in a later pic you have sorted it and I presume the spacer on the front pulley is so that you have enough room on the rear pulley to allow for expansion otherwise you might hit the frame as the rear inner pulley expands in??

I have put on a spacer to get right alignment to the rear sprocket. Because the sprockets are on the same side as the cvt.

Ah ok. When I ran my engine/cvt for the first time the rear pulley ripped off the stand spring when fully open

Don't forget that's because the CVT takes up little room compared with a gearbox

That is true!

I wish somebody would come up with a cheap aftermarket thin gearbox+clutch combo that can handle 30 odd BHP, that would IDEAL for us! The villiers/enfield boxes can take the power but are hard to find and expensive, and not great to actually change gear with. All harley stuff is WAY too expensive and too big as well. Doesnt seem to be much else.

Regarding the gearbox/cvt discussion, it would appear from some eyeball measuring that an Enfield gearbox would fit quite nicely behind the Lombardini. And then the accompanying belt drive is really quite simple and inexpensive. The comparison below is of 2 differnt production CB750's. However, the engine/trans cradle opening is identical front to back and you'll note the Lombardini doesn't take up as much space as the Yanclone (or are my eyes deceiving me?).

BTW, what kind of power does the 502 produce?

I have good space behind the engine so a enfield gearbox would fit. The power is from 11,2 to 13,4 HP depending on adjustment. The top revs is from 3000 to 4500 depending on the spring in the speed governor. Now it is 3500 but I will change that if nessesary. So it looks like it is a very versetail engine.

Lights and blinkers are done.
Because it has CVT drive i have added a parkingbreak on the rear wheel as a precaution so it dont accidently run away when i start it. See YouTube video.
