Another year, another superb UK rally. Great to see everyone again and thanks to Stuart and Jeff for getting everything sorted. I really liked the venue and would be more than happy to go back next year. Hope you got the clutch cable/made it back ok Dave?!

No he didn't Dan! Lol I drove out with the spare for Dave when he broke down 10 miles out at Milford. All part of the service
Just finishing up in the field. Thanks to everyone who came & made it a great rally. Most people like the new venue so it's looking like we maybe back here next year?!

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
I have returned home safe and sound.
It was a pleasure again to be there, meet all of you, see the bikes, get an english sunburn (again, i can't bloody believe it. Last year i went for butter toast, this year i'm toasted!) and most of all seem to have spend much more brilliant time that doesn't fit in the same logical time frame thanks to all of it.
I have made only a few movies but i'll post them when i get done editing them. I'll edit out the numberplate on The Sprocket etc.
Oh this year again i passed the clourfull sidecar combo and family in belgium on my way back. Unfortunatly this time on the back of a trailer? What happened? Sorry i didn't stop to check i was guiding the other Bert home.

Glad you got home safe & sound Bert, unlike that outfit. I have no news about what happened to them.
Thanks for coming over & hope you enjoyed the scenic runout up to Newlands Corner.
Yes, I saw the sun was burning you up and me too! Lol. Yet another year with good weather!

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Made it home safe and sound, Henry's replacement clutch cable service did the job.
To complete the story:
Not being able to stay and camp for the weekend due to a family wedding on the Saturday I was making my way into Winchester on Saturday morning when my clutch cable snapped at the lever nipple end.
Great 2 hours before the church ceremony and the missus will kill me if I'm late.......
One electrical connector later on the end of the broken cable and Sluggys on the road again.
So back to the venue on Sunday and my temp repair lets go 10 miles from the site. Luckily Henry had a few spares on board and Dan had snaffled one for me so after a quick call to Stu and it was the Ruggerfield to the rescue. Whilst stopped at the side of the road looking all pathetic amongst the swarms of rather expensive sports cars out on the road were also a lot of Scooters and some friendly soul gave me a cable and solder less nipple. I fitted these whilst awaiting Dieselbike rescue.
Stu arrives and I bag the spare cable and we set off back to the campsite - the Vespa repair holds but I swap to the proper Indian Enfield cable back at the campsite.
My thanks to all for organizing and making me welcome as a lightweight visitor. Sluggy ran like a champ as usual despite my home brewed regulator system and we braved the M25 both ways and even topped 50 mph on the faster bits.
Cheers everybody.

Henry the curry was most welcome indeed.
Considering I was only going to be present for the Friday and Sunday daytimes I should have thought about bringing some grub and water along.

I think Bert got a curry in town. Maybe we should arrange for a taxi to bring out a mass curry order next year?

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
NULL & VOID!
Quick straw poll:
We can't get the same date next year at Springbok because its already booked for a wedding. They have booked a lot of space for parking etc.
We like this date because, as we know by now, the weather never really let us down in 9 years.
So, we've been invited back & have provisionally booked the weekend before, the actual bank Holiday weekend itself, precisely one week before our normal date.
Personally I'm not convinced it won't rain on the holiday Monday (even though it didn't this year).
Is everybody happy with this arrangement??

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
If I had to pick between the 'usual' venue and Springbok my preference would be the latter but sadly the weekend before the usual one is both my wife's and my youngest son's birthday so I'd sadly be unlikely to make it - other than perhaps for a visit on the Saturday. That said I don't currently have a diesel bike and I am but one voice amongst many!

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Would you believe I've just received an email from Debbie at Springbok saying the weekend we requested is now available!
I've no idea what happened to the wedding?!
So, rally dates for 2014 are Friday 30th May through to Sunday 1st June at the Springbok Estate.
Sorted
Oh, and it will be our 10th anniversary event so I'm lining up something special.

Is the man with the Honda 400N dream (kubota 2 cilinder with cvt) on here aswell?
The ride back was very nice through the UK. This is a 2 hour plus piece of it.

I do snore, due to not being able to roll on my side and keep my head supported. I'll bring my pillow with me in futurezarquon wrote:You are welcome, but booked to the snorers areaAnorak_ian wrote:Well done on a great event, I look forward to next year. See ya all in Hamm.
Actually, the rally weekend was the start of this bug that I have now (in full swing), cough splutter and grolly.
