Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Sorted!
http://www.dieselbike.net/Rally-Info/rally.htm
Springbok Est, Alfold, Nr Cranleigh, Surrey GU6 8EX
We'll have a camping field, toilets, a shower and washroom along with access to the site bar. There is even a Motorcycle Repair Business unit about 100 yards away
Camping fees are £9 a night per tent. I did get us a reduction and will be paying a one off fee so we can all use the onsite bar. Sorry it's higher than normal.
Food must be ordered in advance so it might be easier to eat at the local pub, the 3 Compasses - its within walking distance? Or bring your own for a BBQ?
Best we could do at short notice. Hope that's o.k. chaps.
I've asked for a bin to be provided in the field and the office say the currently faulty WiFi will be sorted come the rally.
There will be a model boating event elsewhere on the Estate at the same time as our event. The estate itself is dedicated to SA seamen. Interesting and a nice place to explore too as it has a fishing lake etc.

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Should say the new venue is probably less than 10 miles North West of the Bat & Ball.
Fuel station at Alfold is only a mile or two away.
Nigel runs the local mower shop which maybe the best place for diesel related spares? He's been to several of our gatherings.

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
I'm looking up some more local services that maybe of interest or use.
Closest Motorcycle Shop:
F C L Cranleigh Motorcycles, Cranleigh GU6 8ND.
http://www.fclmotorcycles.co.uk/
Closest Motorcycle dealership:
Destination Triumph,
Birtley Road
Bramley
Guildford
Surrey
GU5 0JA
Tel.0843 383 2737
http://www.destinationtriumph.co.uk/
Here's a nearby garage:
http://www.cylex-uk.co.uk/reviews/viewc ... d=18873970
Further on is an old Kilnworks converted to many small business units. Probably only the cafe & mountain bike shop there will be of interest to some.
http://www.smithbrookkilns.co.uk/
The local filling station. It's situated on the A281 just before the Alfold junction turn off.
http://cranleigh.inuklocal.co.uk/Petrol ... Station-34
And of course, the Dunsfold Airfield. But you may have to get a shuttle bus to view the airfield? I'll check on that.

Added some site maps to show the route round the estate to the camping field & the general area. It really is just up the road from the old venue.

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Got some wood to support the bikes sidestands yesterday. Fliers going out again today. Only http://ridesandrallies.co.uk/
have yet to update their website with the new venue. Every other website I submitted to has done this.
Just found another. They have been emailed. They must copy the listings from other sites. Wish they were just as quick in correcting them!
http://www.incredirides.com/event?start_date=2013-05-30
We're also going into other print listings further North (of here) as we are now over the border & into Surrey. Quite a few motor enthusiasts in that part of the world

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
I have just purchased an ordinance survey map for Aldershot & Guildford map no. 186 of the Land Ranger series that covers the area where we are going to be. It shows some interesting places to visit. Obviously this is low tech, but I do not do sat nav. I still love the feeling of maps in my hand and knowing where north is on a compass. I'm nearly packed. Ride safe, Sean

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Thanks for sorting this Stuart, it looks really good. I hope everyone appreciates you do this pretty much on your own and for the benefit of all of us. Given you were expecting us to be able to use the usual venue until a matter of weeks ago it must've been a fair bit of work to sort this out. I'm really looking forward to it - will be great to see everyone and catch up.

Cheers Dan. It's not been too much work. I just do a bit each day. Flyers out to two more local bike shops today & rode the bike about town. Met some guys who already had a flyer so folks must be picking them up
Looking forward to it!

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Update: The large Marqee is up a week early. This is big enough for the whole lot of us & will be handy if the weather turns. The site has ordered a large bin for our rubbish but that hasn't arrived just yet & WiFi is still problematic I'm told.

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Look out for the Dayglo signs from the Alfold Junction. Part directions - part advertising, they'll lead you to the Springbok Estate entrance & through the grounds to the campsite at the rear.
Whiskers informs me he will be on site from Thursday midday. Judging by messages I've had we could see as many as eight Track T800 CDi motorcycles.Stuart. M1030M1, Honda NC700S, Grom!, Toyota Corolla 1.4 Turbo Diesel. Favouring MPG over MPH.

More flyers out today in and around the county. Phone calls & emails coming in asking about pets on site. I've said its ok as long as owners take responsibility for their animals.
Weather looking a little wet for Tuesday so perhaps it was a bit optimistic to camp from then. Will certainly be on site Wednesday onward.

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
For SAT-NAV users: Please be aware that by suggesting the shortest route to the Springbok Estate, your SAT-NAV will be suggesting the WRONG route to you!
If coming from the Bat & Ball on the B2133, Please IGNORE any reference to Rosemary Lane & Satchel Court Road as these lead to NO ACCESS Farm tracks at the rear of the Estate. Proceed to the Alfold Junction.
Many thanks to Whiskers who discovered this out during a 'dry run' to the new venue.

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
Signs went up today at the two junctions mentioned above. Arrows point away from them & to the north - Alfold junction.
A third sign went up at the Bat & Ball. It looks like refurbishment work has started.

Sadly I will miss the Saturday due to a family wedding but I'll chug along on Friday and Sunday to say hello and show my face.
Old Sluggy be pressed into service for the occasion, seems to be doing a lot of miles recently as we covered over 700 last weekend on a trip to Wales.

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
It seems a few things have changed.
Each person will have to pay £1.00 to use the bar all weekend. This wasn't what we were told a month ago!
Shower Tokens are .50p from the bar.
We're in the field now & it's big & the weather is gorgeous

Re: Big Knock 2013 Rally Date 1st June weekend
I can't vouch for the one in the background but Teun's red and silver one most definitely is - 2.0 turbo diesel and based on Peugeot running gear.
My FJR on the other hand is most definitely NOT a diesel though I really can't complain getting 50mpg with 140hp

The white Zeus is petrol powered. The red is Diesel.
We have 9 dieselbikes on site this Thursday evening. Not a bad turnout for this early
