I am afraid I have been lax in logging in. Getting to email is a two hour drive and I have other things to do so I spend as little time as possible in the cafe.
Today I drove 10 hours to Jos central Nigeria, West Africa. from Zing near Jalingo directly east of Jos not far from the Camerounian border. ou need a very good map to find Jalingo, not to speak of Zing.
Just 400 miles but a very bad road for only 40 miles. Mind you I was in luxury driving a 2001 Toyota Hilux 4x4. Petrol engine 2690 cc I think
Where I stay here in Jos has internet access so I can play to my hearts content.
My qualifications for diesel bikes are nil. Only curiosity. I use a XT 600 (1984-ish) in the parish. Petrol.
We do have lots of small diesel engines being sold new. Fairly low quality chinese made I think. After a few hundred hours things begin to wear I imagine. There are also three wheeler piaggios which have diesel. About five years ago the government bought dozens and gave them out. Now only one or two to be seen. Often overloaded. I saw one with six sacks of corn - probably 400 kg. no wonder they're gone. But when I ask, no one knows where.
I see the weather in Europe is pretty dismal. Here the sun is splitting the stones. No rain since October. Daytime temperature up to around 30 centigrade. Nighttime maybe around 10. This is the cool pleasant dry season.

. Last year this time there was no snow on the ground until early January, and on January 1st I was in shirt sleeves working on my house roof. So much for global warming. Oh well, it's easier to stay inside working on the diesel project when you can't see over the snowbanks outside the windows
