Looked at the video, but my pc's sound isn't working, so I couldn't here what they were talking about.
That bike is huge!!! Did they build it for drag racing? Looks like something you'd take out to Bonneville.

I'm unable to hear the sound as well. In the middle or redecorating and the PC has a bare minimum of essentials plugged into it at the moment :
Here's the link I posted to my news page a while back. http://www.thecrucible.org/about/diemoto.html
May the force be with them!

KLR
Did wonder whether the Diesel KLR had been there this year again. Guess it's just a few taps of the keyboard away but not checked yet. I'd have thought they might try to improve on their record.
I do fancy buying one of them bikes but the limited edition may be a bit beyond me

I'll be watching
After living in Northern Califonia for the past 35 years and having friends in the local area there, I'll be watching. I'd like to go by and visit next time I go see my kids.
Now I live very close to El Mirage, when I get my turbo charged bike up and running, I'd like to see what she will do. I'll get a little more info from my friends at RB Racing, they did a piece on my Diesel aventures on thier site.

KLR diesel....
I don't know much about the conversion from gas to diesel with the KLR, but
it reminds me of GM's conversion of there 350ci gasser to diesel. Yes, you can redesigen another head, piston, rings, etc., but the engine is a tad light for diesel work, IMHO. I own a KL650, and know it's a cheap dirt bike, plain and simple. I'm not putting down Kawasaki, rather, all I'm saying is you get what you pay for, and it's cheap.......

KLR
Dave,
I wonder if the folks making the KLR are situated in Area 51 Or is that Nevada way My brother rode through that area way back and saw something weird in the sky. We even heard a report of it on the TV here when he got back
Here's a shot of him at a Gas station.
A shot of the bike he used. Not sure but it may have been a US Yamaha?
A shot of the bike on some highway.
Y'know I tried to join the US Army forum simply to try and get some rider reports of the KLR. No luck as I'm not a serving soldier. But if there are any who read this maybe they could put this forum in contact with ppl who do ride 'em
Having ridden a prototype version I'd have to say I think it very suitable for the job it was designed to do - namely convoy and dispatch work. It would be a great machine for long range desert work by special forces - provided the battery didn't pack up.
I'm hoping the reduced flywheel size on the 611cc version has got rid of the slight top end vibration. I know it was just a test model but It felt like the flywheel wasn't balanced quite right on that particular machine.
I've been checking the old army stock to see if any battle damaged ones appear but no luck yet. Maybe some of the German guys have the best idea in that they'd like to buy an engine only.

Guys,
why is it that the Dutch seem to know more than the "home crowd" ???
First:
To you who are in the area please try to find out, if ever possible, so I can match the info with mine.!!
I hoped and think this would be better for the future PR the "Firm" to give the info themselves available . there is only silence and never any respons to help offerings and info requests.
This seems to go the same way as the Hummer project for the US army.
After many years finally available for the "normal public".
Second:
I think form my point of view the concept is a little to basic. A more anchient way of converting to / producing a dieselengine.
Knowing more at this stage on the concept in total, demand on the engine without turbo/intakeaircooler/electronics will be a hard job to get the job done if you know what I mean!
I know how hard it is even to get proven technology do what you want it to do.
Still, I think that whatever pro's and contra's on these machine and others like mine it will result in pushing the petrolbikes "of the road" .
But we still have a lot of caching up to do to convince the "public" of this much more refined technology. The motorcyclemanufacturers and clients are a very conservative .

Google earth
I got a nice letter from Fred Hayes a while back with the KLR data pdf's attached. All seemed ok. Maybe if someone has Google earth installed they coould try and find the place using that?
I did have it on this PC but it's on it's last legs and don't want to put too much strain on the old thing by loading that (big) program.

Gotcha
Yep, I can see the buildings you mention. I've been looking at some of the HDT pics to try and see any landmarks. Nothing so far.
I saw the publicity shots with all the new overhead rails installed. I wonder where they are then? Strange..
