Grease despensor
If you ever need grease for a little job, say putting on bolts before you refit them. Useing a grease gun is not that convenient as its a two handed job & mine has a flexible hose on the end. What I use is an old toothpaste dispenser, pump action type. Just get a used one, apply compressed air to the nozel then go & retrieve the piston from the other side of the workshop, fill with grease & replace piston. You will find that it allways comes out clean as the pump shuts off the hole.

This is such a cool idea! Being so far away from shop at the moment is killing me, I really want to try this! One for bearing grease, and another for silicone bulb grease, fantastic!

hmm... not having one in my hand to look at.... hard to picture this. does this blow the bottom (which is the piston as well) of the thing off?sbrumby wrote:.... .. apply compressed air to the nozel then go & retrieve the piston from the other side of the workshop, fill with grease & replace piston. Yes, and then you just fill it back up with grease, or some other viscous substance (antisieze, etc.) and pop the piston (bottom cover really) back on. The real piston, that propels the stuff out the nozzle is in the pump head at teh top of the container. No more nasty, dust clumped brushes sticking out of holes in the lid of the grease container!coachgeo wrote:hmm... not having one in my hand to look at.... hard to picture this. does this blow the bottom (which is the piston as well) of the thing off?sbrumby wrote:.... .. apply compressed air to the nozel then go & retrieve the piston from the other side of the workshop, fill with grease & replace piston. Went out and got a pump style toothpaste tube, just couldn't wait to give this a go!

I have Themaplex grease in one of those cardboard tubes you fit into a silcone sealant hand gun and it's a nightmare to use. I will certainly look out for a better dispensor after seeing Sam's idea . What about a soap dispensor? Hmm...will keep my eye's peeled next time I get to a boot sale
