Hi,
Has anyone tried recycling the CVT/Torque converter from a twist-n-go scooter onto a 10hp Yanmar?
A 125cc scooter will be producing 10hp or more, so it could handle the power.
The speed at which the "clutch" engages would need to be changed, I'm not show how much adjustment would be possible.

Although both engines make the same horsepower, the Yanmar should make significantly more torque at a lower RPM. There is a possibility that the scooter trans will not be able to handle this increased load and will slip and overheat.

It's best to search first.AMB2012 wrote:Hi,

Try searching the site using the terms Scooter, CVT This might bring up some threads on the topic. The word Scooter along might be a good search term too.

Lots of people asking similar questions but nobody seems to have actually tried it.

believe there is a build thread in here... if not more than one, of folks who have used a Scooteris torque converter similar to the one you bring up in your ebay thread
Re: CVT/Torq-a-verter from a scooter?
This is my first post as i am new to diesel powered motorcycles. I been looking into what parts I need to get myself ready for a winter project and gearing is one thing i can't settle on. Does this method work? As I can't find a thread where someone has used it. I do have a KMX 125 engine that I've been looking at using. but as this is my first venture I want to keep it simple and reliable. Trying to source a good 10hp motor and fingers crossed may have a hatz lined up.
