Just a heads up here. I know some guys here have Perkins 404/403 or Caterpillar 3024 bike builds here. Came across some info discussing problems with head gaskets and oiling that you might want to know about. Sounds like a guy wants to stay on top of monitoring oil pressure with a gauge, not an idiot light, and also check compression regularly because of head gasket. There's an upgrade gasket, all steel, available that Perkins produced as a fix for a known problem. They also adjust warranty in some cases on the oil issue after a Service Bulletin went out identifying a problem.
