I wondered why my brakes were feeling a bit rubbish, when I pulled over the problem became obvious.
I think a recent short cut along a farm track must have pushed the seal over the edge.... My bullet is a Indian produced 500 which has a disk brake and the fork oil has leaked straight onto the pads.
I've never done a fork seal replacement before and a web search didn't turn up anything useful. A mate told me it was a bit of a nightmare so I used to get the Suzuki seals done at a local bike shop. I'm short of time (I had to wait a few days to get the shop to do the job) and money and want to DIY if possible. I've read that it probably will take some special tools (which I may be able to make / bodge my way around) anyone got any advice....

Bullet Fork Seal Replacement
It's a very easy job to do and so long as you have enough space under the forks you can drop off the lower legs without needing to remove the stanchions.
The only special tool is a protector for the top of the forks and you can use a jubilee clip instead. There are 2 sets of seals seperated by a plastic spacer - order new ones with the new seals just in case they get damaged.
When you undo the bottom fork nuts don't try and do this gently, use a ring spanner and give it a sharp rap with a hammer - otherwise the whole lot will turn in the leg and it can be the devils own job to seperate the parts.
In all I reakon on about an hour should do it.
Regards
Dave
