Honda SH 50 to diesel conversion

Post by Brainsparks30 »

Hello, this is my first post and idea, I am looking for help and suggestions :)

I have recently aquired a 1988 Honda SH City express, which I am having ideas about swapping the engine for something diesely (the other idea is briggs and stratton 4 stroke petrol...) I have a spare duff bottom end and drive which might come in usefull for measuring and drive parts, there seems to be plenty of room around the original engine. I kind of fancy uprateing the forks to the 90's and on (Scoopy to some) version with alloy wheels and front disk brake, boosting the electrical system and adding a small screen. I dont mind fabricating engine mounts and so on, in fact thats part of the fun. Im not shure if newer parts will fit an old frame. I wondered if anyone else here had attempted something like this?

Looks like a great conversion!

The only problems I can see is with space.

Diesels tend to be quite larger (Even the small ones) so I think you may struggle to fit it in the bike.

Many people start with bikes that had 250-400 + cc engines to being with, this way you don't have to uprate brakes + suspension etc etc
