Hello from Somerset

Post by Tim »

Hi to all!
I live in Castle Cary , Somerset and have built two Diesels motorbikes a Honda Superdream 250cc fitted with a Changfa 170 converted to run on unmodified veg oil and a Honda Superdream 400cc fitted with a changfa 186 Engine
Both used Villiers type gearboxes and one is chain drive the other belt which was much easier to do and happy to share the information if anyone out there is interested
As I only can ride one at a time I will be selling the 170 as soon as the other is MOTed
I am keen on the engineering and in the future I hope to build a Kubota / Aixam powered bike ,
Maybe someone out there is interested and wants to buddy up and build one simultaneously at the same time ?
Cheers Tim

Welcome Tim, and great work on your 2 builds. We'd love to have you detail the belt drive, perhaps best done in the Clutch, Primary & Final Drive section of the Technical Talk. And best of luck with the next build, which would be great for us to follow if you were to detail it in the Bike Building Thread. Your in good company here.

Nice looking ride, Tim. You'll like the 186's power over the 170....definitely a keeper. I wish we could get the same gear boxes over here in the states

Hi
Your are so right the 186 makes a really nice bike , I always wanted a big single and it has all turned out better than expected . The only minor is when starting it sounds like a combine harvester firing up . I haven’t met up with another 186 motor to make comparisons.

Hi
I intend to build a kubota /Aixam engined super dream . So far I have got hold of an engine and the variator pulley system . I intend to make a jack shaft to mount the variator pully and then a tooth belt to the rear wheel . Measuring it against the Yanmar clone its about the same overall length so recon it will fit easly in to the Superdream. I am in the market for a superdream !
I would be happy to join up if anyone want to build a similar beast!

Cheers Tim
