Post by Denzlepob »

OK chaps (and chapesses' of course) here is a diagram of the regulator/limiter fitted to my Lombardini 422cc diesel, can someone explain the basic operation please and the predicted effect on the engine if delivery screw 11 is
A:wound in
or
B:wound out

Cheers

Number 11 would control maximum fuelling to the cylinder between idle and full/required rpm when the governor would lean fuel to give max rpm.

So if your at idle and you accelerate this is when number 11 becomes effective and will fuel the cylinder until desired rpm is reached and fuel is backed off by the governor, if you hit a hill and desired rpm is decreased then maximum fuelling would then again take effect. It's OK for a diesel under load to blow some black smoke, but if it's excessive you'd back number 11 off, if the engine under load doesn't blow smoke, maybe you could wind 11 out a little.

Hope that kinda sums it up ;)
